"The adults, all of whom are called upon to supply near-Wagnerian fire-power in places, are no less impressive, particularly soprano Sarah Fox in the tricky role of Judith."

"These perceptive performances by both singers and their pianist recover even the sense and sensibility of those songs which seem distant from our time."

Miss Fox opens the programme with 'My heart is like a singing bird' which is one of Parry’s most celebrated songs – and justly so. Jeremy Dibble dubs it a “highly effusive” song and Sarah Fox responds to the music with ardent singing.

"I’ve always thought that Les Illuminations sounds better with a tenor, but after hearing Sarah Fox I don’t think I’ll ever say that again. Her command of the tessitura bristled with confidence, like a surfer surmounting a series of impossible waves. But with that total security came great beauty of tone, summiting the final pianissimo of 'Phrase' with extraordinary delicacy, and singing 'Royauté' with a sly wink in the voice that I found very winning. Throw in her wiltingly beautiful tone in 'Being beauteous', and I think it’s hard to imagine this cycle being sung better by a soprano.”

Sarah Fox thrills in Howell's 'Hymnus Paradisi'

"The work is especially demanding for the soprano, who has a challenge of almost Wagnerian proportions in terms of range, and has to compete with a considerable orchestra and chorus. Fox was more than equal to it, assisted by a conductor who brought the optimum combination of tension, profundity and light to his direction of the work.”

Sarah Fox excels in 'Elijah' at the Three Choirs Festival

“The last time I saw Sarah Fox was a couple of weeks ago when she took part in the televised BBC Prom devoted to MGM musicals. It’s quite a distance, musically speaking, from Hollywood to Hereford but Miss Fox managed the transition effortlessly. I enjoyed her warm yet clear tones throughout the evening, not least in a compelling account of ‘Hear ye, Israel'... Earlier Sarah Fox had impressed as the Widow, completely credible as the distressed mother, pleading that her son might live and then, when her wish was granted, sincerely thankful.”
